Alabama moved quickly to find its new outside linebackers coach. Kalen DeBoer is reportedly adding a veteran SEC assistant to his inaugural Crimson Tide coaching staff.

With William Inge deciding to coach at Tennessee, DeBoer is hiring Christian Robinson as outside linebackers coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. Robinson knows the conference well as a former Georgia player and assistant at multiple SEC schools. He heads to Tuscaloosa after a season at Baylor.

Robinson was a linebacker for Mark Richt’s Georgia team from 2009-to-2012. In 51 games (17 starts), Robinson recorded 159 tackles, including 22.5 for loss with 4.5 sacks.

Robinson began his coaching career at Georgia as a graduate assistant working with the defense. After two seasons at UGA, Robinson joined the staff at Ole Miss in 2015 as a grad assistant.

In 2017, Robinson reunited with Todd Grantham, his defensive coordinator at Georgia, as a grad assistant at Mississippi State on Dan Mullen’s staff. Robinson followed Mullen and Grantham to Florida in 2018.

With the Gators, Robinson received his first full-time on-field assistant position. He was UF’s linebackers coach for four seasons (2018-to-2021). Robinson served as the interim defensive coordinator following Grantham’s in-season dismissal.

Robinson landed at Auburn in 2022 after the coaching change at Florida.
