Alabama hoops downs Mizzou, clinches spot in SEC Tournament final

Alabama basketball downed No. 4 seed Mizzou Saturday in the SEC Tournament semifinals, leaning on 20 points and 12 rebounds from star freshman and leader Brandon Miller. With the 72-61 win, the Tide will now face off against one of Texas A&M or Vanderbilt in the title game, which is set for 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT.

Alabama did not play their best game offensively (still shooting 49% from the field), instead shutting down every Tiger not named D’Moi Hodge. Kobe Brown, who scored 24 points in Friday’s win over Tennessee, was held to just 6 points Saturday against the Tide. That, combined with a rebounding discrepancy that favored Alabama 44-28, was more than enough to win the day.

Miller is now shooting 7-15 from the 3-point line across 2 games in the tournament, a terrifying proposition to either of Texas A&M or Vanderbilt. When Alabama is hitting its shots it’s nearly unbeatable, as it’s athleticism allows it to do so much on the defensive end of the ball.

Now, all that’s left to do is wait to determine who the Tide will be playing Sunday. Alabama is looking to win its 2nd SEC Tournament title in 3 years tomorrow.
