Alabama hopeful to have Jam Miller back for key SEC game, per report
Alabama is holding out hope that it will have starting running back Jam Miller back for the Georgia showdown on Sept. 27, a source told On3 on Sunday afternoon.
Sources also told On3 that Miller suffered a collarbone injury in Saturday’s scrimmage and will be out indefinitely.
The Georgia game is in Athens this year and is a primetime showcase — like last year’s thriller in Tuscaloosa won by the Crimson Tide — that will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Alabama is hoping that Miller will be on the field that night trying to lead the Tide to victory in their SEC opener.
But to do that, Miller will have to recover in about a month and a half from the reported collarbone injury he suffered on Saturday. Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer only revealed on Sunday morning that Miller had a procedure on Saturday night to take care of an upper-body injury, not specifying that it was a collarbone injury and not offering any timetable for his return to the field.
DeBoer didn’t mention Miller’s injury during Saturday’s post-scrimmage interview with reporters because he didn’t believe the injury was serious at that time. Obviously, the situation is different now, and Alabama hopes that Miller’s recovery will be complete by the time it heads to Athens for another grudge match with Georgia.
Miller was Alabama’s top running back last fall, rushing for 668 yards and 7 touchdowns.
