When a program knows nothing but success, it’s no surprise to see coaching turnover. Such is the way of life in Tuscaloosa year in and year out under Nick Saban. The latest example: graduate assistant Jake Thornton has been lured away from Alabama and hired on at Tennessee Tech.
Thornton is the new offensive line coach at Tech, according to his Twitter account. Thornton was only on the Tide’s staff for one season but the lone year on the job was enough to leave an impression on the young assistant coach.
In a release obtained by Charlie Porter of 247Sports, Thornton credited Nick Saban for teaching him and described his experience in Tuscaloosa as ‘fantastic.’
“I learned what being attentive to details means,” Thornton said in a release from TTU. “I learned to watch different things and how to coach players and how to win by being around those guys. Coach Saban taught me a lot of lessons and how to handle different things. It was a very fantastic experience for me, especially being a younger guy, and I have been honored to be a part of his staff for the time I was.”
