Alabama radio voice says Heisman Trophy race has been ‘over for weeks now’

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is one of the front runners to win the Heisman Trophy this season, but there are several other top candidates, including Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.
However, Alabama radio broadcaster Eli Gold thinks the race has been over for a while. And he thinks the winner should easily be Tagovailoa.
“In my mind, the Heisman race has been over for weeks now,” Gold said during an appearance on SiriusXM Radio. “I see him on the practice field in addition to game day. You’ll be standing there and all of a sudden, he’ll do something on the practice field and you’re just shaking your head like, ‘My goodness, how the heck can a human being do that?’ And the same thing during the games, I don’t know how many times I have literally had my breath taken away by the way the man has gotten out of trouble and made chicken salad out of chicken droppings.”

While Gold sees Tagovailoa more frequently than some, it’s hard to dispute his argument for how Tagovailoa has performed during games. Tagovailoa has passed for 3,189 yards and 36 touchdowns while throwing only two interceptions and leading the Crimson Tide to a 12-0 record.
Gold has been the radio broadcaster for the Alabama football team since 1988.
