Alabama nearly lost to Texas A&M for the 2nd year in a row.

Jimbo Fisher’s Aggies stopped the then-No. 1 Crimson Tide’s 19-game winning streak with a 41-38 victory at Kyle Field on Oct. 9, 2021, thanks to a 28-yard field goal by Seth Small. Nearly a year later, and this time in Tuscaloosa, the Aggies had eyes on another last-second victory over Nick Saban’s top-ranked team, but failed to do so as the Tide escaped.

And, of course, the Alabama football Twitter account on Monday couldn’t resist trolling Texas A&M with its latest game poster, titled “Thumb War,” which you can see below:

The “thumbs up” is one of a host of Aggie traditions, accompanying the “Gig ’em” phrase. Unfortunately for Texas A&M, another victory over Alabama, especially after the back-and-forth between Fisher and Saban in the offseason, wasn’t in the cards.

Meanwhile, the Tide dropped to No. 3 in the polls following their near miss and blowout wins by both Georgia and Ohio State. They’re 6-0 and will head to Knoxville on Saturday to face No. 6 Tennessee, a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on CBS.
