Alabama is gearing up for a road trip to Lexington on Saturday, where the Tide will try to keep their march to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game going.
The Wildcats have struggled offensively at times this year, and Alabama’s defense has been elite. That normally would shape up to favor the Tide in a big way.
But, per ESPN’s Chris Low, the Tide will be without 2 key defenders on Saturday when the game against the Wildcats kicks off. Per Low, LB Deontae Lawson and DB Jaylen Key are out for the game, dealing with ankle and quad injuries, respectively:
Alabama will be without two of its top defenders today against Kentucky. Linebacker Deontae Lawson (ankle) and defensive back Jaylen Key (quad) are both out for @AlabamaFTBL with injuries. Lawson is the Tide’s second leading tackler and Key their third leading tackler.

As Low’s tweet mentioned, those are the Tide’s second- and third-leading tacklers. That’s a lot of tackling that will be missing from Alabama’s defense against the hard-nosed Wildcats.
The line currently favors Alabama by 11.5 points on DraftKings. Can the Tide still win in blowout fashion?
