DB Brendan Gant, Alabama’s lone Florida commit, decommits from Crimson Tide

After a huge recruiting week, Alabama jumped to the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.

However, that was short-lived. Sunday night, 4-star DB Brendan Gant (Lakeland, Florida) decommitted from the Tide, knocking Alabama to No. 2 in the recruiting rankings behind Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-2, 187-pound prospect had been committed to Alabama since December 21, 2017, but things have changed. Most think FSU is in great position to land Gant now.

Following Gant’s decommitment, Alabama now has nine commitments for the class of 2019.

Gant is ranked as the nation’s No. 6 overall safety and the state of Florida’s No. 20 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He released the following statement via Twitter:
