It didn’t take Amani Gilmore long to find his new home.

Just a week after entering the NCAA transfer portal, the former Kentucky signal-caller announced he will continue his playing career at North Texas. Gilmore was the fifth Wildcat to enter the NCAA transfer portal in a week’s time.

Gilmore’s time in Lexington was brief, as he only spent one season with Kentucky with his only appearance on the field coming against UT-Martin. The Amite, La., native signed with Kentucky in the 2019 recruiting cycle as a three-star prospect. Gilmore led Amite High School to the 2018 Louisiana 2A State Championship.

On the bright side for the Wildcats, Gilmore’s decision to leave Kentucky shouldn’t hurt Mark Stoops’ program much as the team enters the 2020 season with a quarterback room featuring Terry Wilson, Joey Gatewood, Sawyer Smith, Nik Scalzo and Beau Allen in Lexington.

Here’s the graphic Gilmore posted to announce his decision.
