Anthony Richardson had an issue-free surgery, according to the owner of the Indianapolis Colts.
Jim Irsay took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to share an update on his first-year quarterback. While it was a long procedure, Irsay said doctors did not discover any other issues with Richardson’s shoulder, only repairing what was already identified.
“Anthony Richardson’s surgery today in LA was a success!, Irsay wrote in a post. “It was a long procedure and his shoulder injury has been repaired. No new surprises were found during surgery – they just repaired what was expected. Anthony is doing well and thanks everyone for the support. (There is presently no date for his return.)”
Richardson elected season-ending surgery last week after suffering an AC joint injury in Week 5 of the NFL season. The former Florida quarterback played in 4 games, going 50-of-84 passing for 577 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, while rushing 25 times for 136 yards and 4 scores. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Richardson also spent time in concussion protocol.
In Richardson’s absence, the Colts have turned to Gardner Minshew, a veteran quarterback with starting experience.
