We’re through 4 weeks of the 2025 college football season, and, as usual, the AP Top 25 featured a number of teams from the SEC. All told, 10 teams from the conference made the poll, with 5 of those teams landing in the top 10.
Things went as expected for LSU as it steamrolled Southeastern Louisiana 56-10 at Death Valley. The Tigers moved down a spot to No. 4 ahead of a key road matchup against No. 13 Ole Miss (a 45-10 winner over Tulane) in Oxford.
Georgia, idle during Week 4 after a heartstopping Week 3 overtime win at Tennessee, stayed put at No. 5. The Bulldogs now turn their attention to a big game at Sanford Stadium as they face Alabama, who dropped 3 spots to No. 17 after an open week of its own. Interestingly enough, it’s the Crimson Tide’s first trip between the hedges since 2015 despite 7 games between the programs since then.
Oklahoma is now in the top 10 after a 24-17 win over Auburn in Norman. The Sooners rose 4 spots from No. 11 to No. 7 while the Tigers fell from a No. 22 ranking to out of the polls. Auburn will next face Texas A&M — which moved up from No. 10 to No. 9 after an idle week — while Oklahoma has Week 5 off.
Meanwhile, Texas cruised to a 55-0 win over Sam Houston State as Arch Manning accounted for 5 touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing). The Longhorns, who dipped 2 spots to No. 10, have an open week before facing Florida in the Swap on Oct. 4.
Elsewhere, Mizzou jumped 3 spots from No. 23 to No. 20 after topping South Carolina. And Vanderbilt climbed 2 spots to No. 18, its highest ranking in any poll since 2008.
