After a loaded Week 1, the new AP Top 25 is out. As expected, there’s a new No. 1.
Texas’s opening-week loss to Ohio State opened the door for a new No. 1. The AP Poll voters opted to go with defending national champion OSU in the top spot after the Buckeyes knocked off the Longhorns.
There were a pair of top-10 battles in Week 1, with LSU knocking off then-No. 4 Clemson and Miami topping then-No. 6 Notre Dame. The Bayou Bengals are now the highest-ranked SEC team, checking in at No. 3. Miami moved up to No. 5, but Notre Dame is still in the top 10.
One of the biggest questions for the new poll was how far Alabama would fall. The Crimson Tide started the season No. 8, but lost by 2 touchdowns to an unranked FSU squad that was a 2-score underdog. UA remained in the poll, checking in at No. 21 behind the Seminoles and others.
