Arch Manning leaves game vs. Mississippi State with apparent injury in overtime
Texas quarterback Arch Manning appeared to suffer a worrisome injury during UT’s first overtime possession on Saturday night in Starkville.
Manning helped lead the Longhorns on a furious comeback against Mississippi State in order to force overtime. Texas scored the final 17 points in regulation, with 7 of those points coming on a touchdown pass from Manning.
However, he took a hard hit while trying to run for a first down in overtime. He was helped to the sideline by medical personnel and went into the injury tent.
Here’s a clip of the play where he suffered the injury:
Texas is looking to avoid what would be an embarrassing loss to Mississippi State. This would be UT’s third loss of the season already despite beginning the year as the preseason No. 1 team in the country.
Prior to exiting the game, Manning had thrown for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns on 46 pass attempts. He also has a rushing TD in this game.
Manning was replaced by Matthew Caldwell.
