There might not be a player with more hype as the 2025 college football season starts than Arch Manning at Texas. He hails from the famous Manning family and is from New Orleans. His grandfather, Archie Manning, got the ball rolling with football in the family, but then his uncles, Eli and Peyton, were even better than their father at playing the position.
Arch is the son of Cooper Manning, the oldest Manning brother. Cooper had his football career cut short due to spinal stenosis, which narrowed his spine and pinched his nerves. The hype around Arch’s career stems from his family’s football history and the fact that he was a five-star recruit. He is more of an athlete than Eli or Peyton and closer to his grandad, and Archie still tells him in their calls to get down or out of bounds.
Manning played a few games last season for Texas while Quinn Ewers was injured, and the offense did not miss a beat. He finished with 939 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, and two interceptions on a 67.8% completion percentage. That sample size has had more than a few fans excited to see what he can do during an entire season.
There were calls for Texas to go with Manning full-time last season due to Ewers’ inconsistent play against teams like Georgia. Now, Manning has the reins of this offense all to himself. Manning has the skillset of his grandfather, and after Archie was sacked 340 times during his 11 seasons with the New Orleans Saints, it makes sense why he would give this advice to his grandson.
