Arch Manning torched by Texas fans, media for poor showing vs. Florida
It’s been a forgettable start to the 2025 season for Texas quarterback Arch Manning.
After entering the year with Heisman Trophy-level expectations, Manning has seemingly fallen further down the list of SEC quarterbacks with each passing week. Manning struggled mightily again on Saturday in Texas’s loss to Florida.
Manning threw for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns, but also threw 2 interceptions in the loss. He also took 6 sacks, including a couple on the final drive of the game that came up short.
His second interception of the game was particularly painful as the Longhorns were running out of time to mount a comeback against the Gators. Instead of finding his receiver for a deep ball to flip the game’s momentum, he was once again picked off by the Florida secondary.
Here’s a clip:
Manning now has 5 interceptions on the season, which puts him among the leaders for SEC starting quarterbacks. He’s battled accuracy issues all year long and has been unable to get the Texas offense firing on all cylinders.
Manning seems to be out of time to figure things out. The Longhorns have now suffered 2 losses on the season — a third would likely put Texas out of the race for an at-large berth in the College Football Playoff. Texas also has a rivalry game vs. Oklahoma slated for next weekend at the Cotton Bowl.
Here’s a look at the reaction to another disappointing performance from Manning:
