Winning in college football is expensive.

The Hogs fired Bret Bielema and will owe him a reported $15.4 million not to coach, while hiring Chad Morris to a six-year deal worth $3.5 million per year.

Arkansas assistants will combine to make $4.345 million in 2018, according to WholeHogSports.com’s Matt Jones, including making new DC John Chavis the highest paid coordinator in program history. Chavis is set to make $995,000 in his first year, but language in his contract should increase his overall pay to $1.5 million in 2019 and $1.6 million in 2020.

Barry Lunney Jr. and John Scott Jr. are the only two holdovers from Bielema’s staff, and they are making what they made in 2017.

Here’s what each Arkansas assistant will make this year:

  • OC Joe Craddock: $600,000
  • OL Dustin Fry: $400,000
  • RBs Jeff Traylor $370,000
  • DL Steve Caldwell: $360,000
  • Secondary Ron Cooper: $355,000
  • WRs Justin Stepp: $350,000
  • TEs Barry Lunney Jr.: $350,000
  • DL John Scott Jr: $340,000
  • DBs Mark Smith: $225,000
  • Strength coach Trumain Carroll: $290,000

Arkansas assistants made a combined $3.945 million in 2017.
