Arkansas is losing some depth at wide receiver for next season.
On Wednesday, redshirt junior receiver Jordan Jones announced on Twitter that he is transferring from the program. 247sports.com confirmed that Jones has entered the NCAA transfer portal, which means coaches from other programs can now contact him about potentially transferring to their program.
Jones missed the 2019 season due to ankle surgery, which he underwent last offseason. Over the two previous seasons, Jones played in 22 games for the Razorbacks, totaling 37 receptions for 593 yards and four touchdowns.
While Jones was out this year, Arkansas fired former head coach Chad Morris and replaced him with Sam Pittman. But Jones will never play for this new Razorbacks regime.
Pittman was asked about Jones’ decision during a press conference on Wednesday.
“I really don’t want to comment on that,” Pittman told the media. “I visited with him, but all I’ll say is we want the players that want to be at the University of Arkansas.”
