Army and Navy had never played an overtime game in the history of the rivalry. Of course, college football overtime only started in 1996, but Saturday’s game in Philadelphia was still historic.

Tied 10-10 heading into overtime, both teams scored in the first OT period to force double-OT. A Navy fumble set up an Army field goal to win.

That’s when Army kicker Quinn Maretzki stepped up and calmly delivered the win for the Black Knights, making the final score 20-17:

Maretzki was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points in the game, coming up clutch each time he stepped on the field for the Black Knights.

Army has now won 5 of the last 7 games against Navy following a 14-year winning streak by the Midshipmen.
