The Super Bowl is headed back to Atlanta and the NFL officially announced the date of the game Thursday afternoon. The city will host Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019, inside the yet to be opened Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Of course the stadium will see its first football action this fall when Alabama and Florida State face off Saturday, Sept. 2, in the 2017 season opener. Tennessee is also scheduled to play in the building that long Labor Day weekend, as the Vols will face off against Georgia Tech Monday, Sept. 4. The SEC title game is also moving into Mercedes-Benz Stadium starting next season.
Atlanta last hosted the Super Bowl back in 2000, in a game won by the St. Louis Rams 23-16 over the Tennessee Titans.
