In the SEC West, Auburn continues to lag behind other schools in terms of COVID-19 vaccination rate.
Ole Miss has hit 100% vaccination. Nick Saban revealed Alabama has all but one person vaccinated. Auburn continues to try to move toward that.
Now, coach Bryan Harsin has tested positive for COVID-19. On Saturday, Auburn AD Allen Greene spoke at a ceremony to break ground on the new football facility. He said the team’s vaccination rate continues to change, adding that the goal for the school is to have an uninterrupted 2021 season (via OANow.com):
“We understand that, if we don’t have enough players, that there’s forfeiture involved,” he said flatly. “That’s not something that’s on our minds right now. Our minds are on playing football, having an uninterrupted season and being awfully competitive.”
Auburn opens the 2021 season with a home game against Akron on Saturday, Sept. 4. We’ll see if the Tigers can accomplish Greene’s goal of an uninterrupted, competitive season.
