Auburn adds 3-star 2020 in-state QB as preferred walk-on

It’s not every day you see a 3-star quarterback committing to a school as a preferred walk-on, but that’s what happened at Auburn on Monday.
Sawyer Pate, a quarterback at Thompson High School in Alabama, committed to Auburn for the 2020 season as a PWO.
As you can see below, Pate announced his decision via Twitter on Monday evening:

Per the 247Sports rankings, Pate is the No. 93 pro-style quarterback in the 2020 class and the No. 105 overall recruit from the state of Alabama.
Pate joins an Auburn recruiting class that currently has 25 members and ranks No. 7 in the country and No. 5 in the SEC, per 247Sports.
