It’s tough to find a high school player ready to compete immediately in the trenches in the SEC. Considering the Tigers face a massive overhaul of the offensive line this offseason, exploring the graduate transfer route makes sense.

That’s where Rice offensive lineman Calvin Anderson comes in. After starting the previous three seasons for Rice, Anderson is looking to take a step up in competition for his final season in college. Taking advantage of the graduate transfer rule, Anderson will be eligible to compete immediately for his next school.

Auburn, the first school to approach him according to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman, has made his top five choices. Anderson will take a visit to The Plains this weekend for a recruiting trip. While he currently has Auburn as his third choice, there’s always the chance the visit vaults the Tigers to the top of his list.

Since announcing his decision to become a graduate transfer, Anderson has quickly become one of the most popular transfers in the country:

Gus Malzahn even reached out to the first Calvin Anderson he found on Twitter. This Anderson didn’t graduate from Rice but was still willing to offer his services to the Auburn coach:
