Auburn to sign talented former 5-star edge rusher from Ole Miss, per report

Auburn continued to reshape its roster under first-year head coach Alex Golesh, and this time the transfer portal addition has come at the expense of a bitter SEC rival.
The Tigers are signing Ole Miss transfer edge rusher Da’Shawn Womack, according to a report on Saturday afternoon by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Christian Clemente, who covers Auburn recruiting for 247Sports. Womack isn’t just a talented edge rusher from a conference rival. He’s a former 5-star recruit, so he comes to the Plains with big-time expectations after leaving Ole Miss.
Womack had 27 tackles and 2 sacks this past season for the Rebels, helping them advance all the way to the College Football Playoff semifinals. This would be Womack’s 3rd SEC school already in a whirlwind collegiate journey, after he began his college career at LSU.
Auburn lost its top 2 defensive ends and top 2 buck linebackers from the 2025 season, so the reported commitment from Womack is a huge and needed victory for the Tigers. Womack could play either of those positions, so his presence and versatility could be huge for Golesh in 2026.
Womack also would come to Auburn with plenty of experience in the SEC, so the Tigers know he can thrive at the highest level. Before spending the 2025 season in Oxford, Womack launched his collegiate career with 2 seasons at LSU, registering 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks during his time in Baton Rouge.
He’s a Baltimore native, so Womack doesn’t come from SEC country originally. But he’s made his collegiate home in the conference, and now it appears he’ll be heading to his 3rd SEC program to try to help get the Golesh era off to a flying start on the Plains.
