Bauer Sharp’s infamous INT vs. LSU still a running joke among new teammates
Bauer Sharp was one of the lone bright spots on Oklahoma’s offense in 2024, but his worst moment came against LSU.
Down by 2 touchdowns late in the 3rd quarter, the Sooners’ coaching staff dialed up an ill-fated trick play. Sharp caught a pass behind the line-of-scrimmage with the intention of throwing the pass again down field. LSU wasn’t fooled, though.
Instead of taking the sack, Sharp threw up a desperation heave that was easily intercepted by Sage Ryan. That more or less ended Oklahoma’s comeback hopes in Baton Rouge.
A few weeks later, Sharp transferred to LSU. His new teammates, as it turns out, remember Sharp’s embarrassing mistake from late November. At SEC Media Days on Monday, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier said it comes up frequently.
“It comes up all the time,” Nussmeier said. “I had a TikTok pop up on my For You page the other day of him throwing the pick. I sent it straight to him. It’s funny. Sometimes we tell him he did it on purpose because he knew he was coming here and stuff like that. We like to mess with him about it. Obviously it’s not a very fond moment for him but he’s a tight end, not a quarterback so I’m excited to see what he’s able to do this year.”
If you need a refresher, here’s the play in question:
Now at LSU, Sharp will make his return to Norman as the Tigers face Oklahoma on Nov. 29.
