The College Football Playoff National Championship Game is technically a neutral-site matchup. The game’s venue is known long before the teams that play in it are decided.

The way it shook out in 2019, LSU has played itself into a home game for the national title.

The Tigers had to drive just over 80 miles to New Orleans from Baton Rouge, as they prepare to face Clemson in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Monday night. Since they were in town, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees decided to swing by an LSU practice and visit with his fellow No. 9, Joe Burrow.

Brees and Burrow were able to share a moment on the practice field, where Burrow told the NFL’s all-time leading passer how much he idolized him growing up.

Brees has been asked about LSU all season with the close proximity in New Orleans, and has praised Burrow and the Tigers throughout this dominant 2019 run.

Brees sent out a congratulatory video when Burrow won the Heisman Trophy, and likely hopes to have more congratulations to give out after Monday night.

If not, Brees and Burrow will be seeing each other across NFL sidelines soon.
