Joe Burrow isn’t the only talented quarterback currently playing his home games in Louisiana. There’s also Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, who is in his 19th NFL season and continuing to perform at an elite level.

With that much experience, Brees is one of the top football minds currently in the game. So if he’s handing out praise, you know it’s deserved.

On Wednesday, Brees was doing just that, and he was complimenting LSU on its impressive 9-0 start to the season. What makes the Tigers so difficult to beat? Brees broke that down while speaking to the media, which included praise for Burrow and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

“I think they’re doing everything pretty well, honestly,” Brees told the media. “They’ve got a really good offense because they’ve got a very good quarterback who’s making great decisions. The RPO game is hard to defend, especially with that running back, who looks just like Mark Ingram by the way, 22. And then obviously a wealth of riches at receiver and guys that can make a ton of plays. So they’re scoring points, man, they’re running the football, they’re throwing the football and then obviously they’re playing really good defense as well. A lot of athletes on that field, but they’re executing.”

Brees may not be an LSU alum — he played at Purdue from 1997-2000 — but he’s been playing for the Saints since 2006, so he’s probably played plenty of attention to the Tigers for the past decade-plus.

This may be the strongest LSU team during that time. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings, and coming off a strong road win at Alabama, they’re the favorites to win the SEC championship at this point.

LSU will look to continue its dominant start — and keep impressing Brees — when it travels to play Ole Miss on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
