Best in the SEC? Ahmad Hardy has Mizzou fans fawning as RB runs wild over Louisiana
Ahmad Hardy is exactly who we thought he was.
Which is to say he’s one of the best running backs in the country. And, during the first half against Louisiana on Saturday, fans were calling him the best running back in the SEC.
Hardy transferred to Mizzou this offseason after a highly productive season at UL Monroe. He was billed as one of the top portal additions in the conference, though he didn’t get quite the same national attention as some of the quarterback transfers who joined the league.
Entering Saturday’s game, Hardy had topped 100 yards in each of his first 2 appearances. He needed just 1 half to break the century mark in his third game.
Hardy ran 17 times for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first half. His second score was a home run — an explosion for 71 yards down the right side of the field. But even without that run, Hardy was a force. Remove the 71-yarder and he still averaged more than 7 yards per carry in the first half against the Ragin’ Cajuns.
In the Week 2 win over Kansas, Hardy forced 12 missed tackles and logged 102 yards after contact. Louisiana had no better luck trying to bring him down in the first half on Saturday.
That had everyone — NFL Draft analysts to neutral fans — praising Hardy.
