Big 12 Coordinator of Officials uses Nick Saban, Bret Bielema as examples of what not to do

The Big 12 is currently holding its Media Days event at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Just like the SEC version of the event, each head coach speaks and fields questions from the league’s media. Also like the SEC’s Media Days, the head of the league’s officiating makes an appearance to discuss new rules for the coming season.
During his Tuesday appearance, Big 12 Coordinator of Officials Walt Anderson spoke to those in attendance. Among the topics discussed by Anderson was the new unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that will be called on coaches if they step out of the white area and onto the field to complain to the referees about penalties.
Wouldn’t you know it, the first example Anderson used was Nick Saban:

Anderson showed another video featuring Bret Bielema and West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen arguing calls on the field.

Several coaches at SEC Media Days joked about the need to hire new “hold-back” coaches to avoid penalties in the upcoming season. Judging by the videos shown above, Alabama and Arkansas might need to consider making those additions as soon as possible.
