LSU head coach Brian Kelly made it known that he’d embrace playing Big Ten teams in the regular season. A coach from the Big 12 wonders if that interest extends to his conference.

During Big 12 Media Days, Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire brought up recent comments by Kelly and said he’d love for the Red Raiders and Tigers to schedule a home-and-home series.

“We now all of the sudden have cross-conference games where we’re playing each other,” McGuire said. “I saw Brian Kelly say he’d love to play a Big Ten team. Hey, man, I would love to play LSU in a home-and-home series.

At May’s SEC spring meetings, Kelly voiced support for SEC teams playing 9 conference games plus a Big Ten opponent in the regular season.

“The Big Ten right now holds it on the SEC,” Kelly said. “They’ve won the last 2 national championships, that’s the reality of it. We want to get challenged in that regard and we’d like to be able to get that done.”

LSU and Texas Tech have met just 3 times over the years. The Tigers won the last meeting, a 56-27 blowout in the Texas Bowl.
