Big-man touchdowns are always a treat. Arkansas, which was in danger of letting its Week 5 game against Notre Dame slip away, got one of its own in the 2nd quarter for a much-needed score.
The Razorbacks, who trailed 14-3 against the Fighting Irish, put together a 14-play, 75-yard drive to pull within 14-10. But it didn’t come easily as they came up short on 1st-and-goal at the 2 and 2nd-and-goal at the 1.
Facing 3rd-and-goal inside the 1-yard line, Sam Pittman turned to 344-pound true freshman JacQawn “Shaq” McRoy — yes, 344 pounds — to punch it in from short yardage. The Pinson, Ala. native did just that, as you can see below:
That’s been one of the few highlights for the Hogs as the Irish have had control of this one through much of the afternoon in Fayetteville. With just over 6 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter, they have found the end zone on all four of their possessions while rolling up 300 yards of total offense.
Still, a first collegiate touchdown for McRoy — considered a Top 10 offensive tackle recruit in the class of 2025 — is a moment he won’t soon forget, regardless of how this game ends up.
