Bob Stoops is going to coach Oklahoma in its bowl game after Lincoln Riley left the Sooners for USC.
Stoops, an Oklahoma legend, was caught off-guard by Riley leaving.
In comments he made this week, he revealed he was disappointed, but he said he wasn’t going to reveal what he said to Riley (via 247Sports):
“Am I disappointed? Sure. The rest of it’s between Lincoln and I personally, as it should be,” Stoops said, via OUInsider. “My initial reaction is what’s best for the program immediately, and recruiting. And the players as well. I should say first and foremost, the players on our team right now, reassuring them that they are OU football sticking together.”
We’ll see what bowl game the Sooners go to after this weekend. But, wherever they end up, Stoops, not Riley, will be coaching their last game of the 2021 season.
