Boo Corrigan made his regular Tuesday night interview with Rece Davis on ESPN to explain the changes in the College Footbal Playoff rankings.

The committee chair addressed ranking LSU at No. 5 above USC at No. 6. Ultimately, it came down to strength of schedule.

“There’s reasons for USC to be at 5, there’s reasons for LSU to be at 5,” he said. “As we looked at it, the wins over Alabama, Mississippi carried the day more so than the wins over UCLA and Oregon State. As you alluded to, the good win that they had on Saturday was 48-45, I think some of the members of the committee, as we looked at it, wanted to see a little bit more from their defense, as well as the overall strength of schedule from LSU really drove the day.”

On a media teleconference after the segment on ESPN, Corrigan added that the committee has liked LSU’s growth since its loss to Florida State. The Tigers’ wins against Alabama and Ole Miss are impressing the group.
