LSU QB Brandon Harris knows that his performance in the upcoming season could define the rest of his football career.
That’s why he’s seeking out the advice of NFL quarterbacks that have been in his shoes, looking to go from a inconsistent producer as a sophomore starter and blossom into a star the next season.
According to a report from LSU beat writer Ross Dellenger, Harris has recently spoken with Cleveland’s Robert Griffin III, Tennessee’s Zach Mettenberger and Minnesota’s Teddy Bridgewater in hopes of getting advice on how to have a strong junior season.
“Those guys hit their junior year and hit that stride,” Harris said. “That’s kind of what we want to do.”
So what did he learn from those players?
According to the report:
They told him to watch video of himself and become obsessed with that practice. They talked to him about leadership. They gave him “different tools,” Harris said, that he plans to add to his repertoire.
Harris will seemingly have to hold off a push from Purdue transfer Danny Etling to ensure that he retains his starting job this fall.
Harris threw for 2,165 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2015, but struggled to develop a consistent passing threat to complement RB Leonard Fournette, completing fewer than 10 passes in five of the Tigers’ 12 games.
