Bret Bielema had some fun at an Ole Miss fan’s expense on Friday afternoon.

Bielema, Illinois’ head coach since 2021, made a social media post criticizing the SEC for boasting about its strength-of-schedule over the past decade. Bielema argued that with new NIL and transfer portal rules, rosters across the country have become more “balanced.”

An Ole Miss fan responded to Bielema’s post, pointing out that he was once fired from an SEC head coaching job at Arkansas after going 11-29.

Bielema, who has been more successful in the Big Ten at both Wisconsin and Illinois, took a jab back at the fan by noting his 3-1 record against the Rebels during his time in Fayetteville.

The argument over SEC vs. Big Ten supremacy may not be so theoretical for much longer. According to Brian Kelly, the SEC and Big Ten have discussed a scheduling partnership that would result in SEC teams playing Big Ten opposition in 1 nonconference showdown each season.

For now at least, the Big Ten certainly has bragging rights after winning each of the last 2 National Championships and getting 4 teams into last year’s College Football Playoff.

As for the Ole Miss-Arkansas discussion, the Rebels have been much better since Bielema was ousted. They’ve won 5 of the last 7 games in this series, including a 63-31 drubbing in Fayetteville last season.
