The Miami Dolphins beat the Houston Texans 17-9 on Sunday to improve to 2-7 on the season and end a 7-game losing streak. They did it without Tua Tagovailoa, who was ruled out of this one due to injury.
Instead, Jacoby Brissett got the start behind center and was 26-of-43 for 244 yards while throwing 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. He was also sacked twice. The teams also combined for 9 turnovers.
Needless to say, it wasn’t a pretty win for Brian Flores’ team, but in the end it’s a long-awaited win. Following the contest, Flores further discussed why he opted to start Brissett in favor of Tagovailoa, saying that Tagovailoa “tried to go” despite being a limited participant in practice leading up to the contest.
“It really just became about how far could he throw? Would he be able to make all the throws we needed him to make?” Flores said. “We thought it was enough to put him in the backup role and we felt like that was the best thing for the team. We would’ve had to change some things offensively if he had to go in.”
The Dolphins take on the Baltimore Ravens on “Thursday Night Football” on Nov. 11.
