Brian Kelly is widely believed to be ahead of schedule in the rebuild at LSU, as the Tigers opened the College Football Playoff rankings at No. 10

Kelly was asked about the timeline of rebuilding a program on the SEC coaches media teleconference.

“There’s no patience for long-term plans anymore. … Everyone has their eyes open that you’re going in looking for immediate results,” Kelly said. “… The transfer portal allows you to restock, if you will, with more mature players. If this was just with freshmen, this process would take longer. … Having said that, you still have to create your program from within, get buy-in. … There are a lot of moving pieces.”

Kelly also updated the status for Jack Bech, John Emery and Garrett Dellinger ahead of the Alabama game this week.

“Yes. Emery practiced well the past couple of days, so he’s a go,” Kelly said. “Bech has practiced well. He’s a go. Dellinger was better yesterday, but I’m going to withhold judgement on him until game day. So he’s probably day-to-day at this point.”
