Brian Kelly takes home ‘head coach of the week’ honor after win over Clemson

Brian Kelly hasn’t felt this good going into Week 2 since he started at LSU in 2022.
That’s because for 3 straight years, there was only heartbreak for the Tigers in their season opener. Twice against Florida State and then last year against USC, Week 1 ended in nightmarish fashion for LSU and for Kelly specifically. The pressure was on to finally break through and win that season opener in Year 4, but it wasn’t going to be easy against Clemson, in its version of Death Valley and at night.
But LSU finally got it done, turning a 10-3 halftime deficit into a 17-10 victory, and so finally Kelly can claim to be 1-0 after 1 game as LSU head coach. Everyone was watching the primetime showdown on ABC on Saturday night, and CBS Sports chose to reward Brian Kelly when it posted its conference coaches of the week for Week 1.
