Auburn has had a difficult situation at quarterback since the departure of Bo Nix and things still aren’t completely solidified at the position. That continued into Saturday when head coach Bryan Harsin said that Auburn “talked about” playing Zach Calzada in the 41-12 to Penn State.

“Yeah, we talked about it,” Harsin told reporters. “I think we wanted to keep Robby in there and let him keep playing. He got an opportunity to get in there and do that. So we’ll see. That’ll be something … we’ll evaluate everything as we go into this week. That’s what we always do. And see what’s going to be the best combination for us to be prepared and ready to go out there and play against Missouri.”

Starting quarterback TJ Finley was benched during the game, allowing Robby Ashford another chance to show what he could do. Neither quarterback looked great, as Finley finished out 11-of-19 passing for 152 yards with one interception.

Ashford was 10-of-19 passing for 144 yards with one touchdown and one interception, so not much more inspiring. The old saying goes that if you have multiple quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks and Auburn certainly seems to be a reflection of that now and has some things to figure out as the season rolls on.
