Alabama quarterback commit Bryce Young may very well be the nation’s top overall player.
The 5-star Crimson Tide pledge is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat quarterback and the nation’s No. 21 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Young’s high school team, Mater Dei, blew out its opponent Friday night to end the regular season, and Young was the star of the game. He finished 17-of-17 for 373 yards and five touchdowns … all in the first half. He didn’t play in the second. His 17 straight first-half completions were a school record.
Talk about a way to end the regular season in spectacular fashion.
Mater Dei finished 10-0 during the regular season and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming playoffs.
“What else can you say about Bryce Young?” Mater Dei coach Bruce Rollinson said, per the Orange County Register. “The kid is incredible. The things he does, the precision of his throwing. I just marvel at him. He makes me look like I know what I’m doing.”
Manny Alvarez caught up with Young following his record-setting performance.
