Bryce Young shares appreciation for Alabama’s QB legacy after becoming first to win Heisman

Fresh off of winning the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young joined The NFL Today crew on CBS ahead of the early slate of NFL games.
Young spoke about what winning the award meant to him.
“It’s a huge blessing and a huge honor,” Young said. “There’s been such a rich history of quarterback play at the University of Alabama, and I understood that coming in.
“And I took that seriously. It was a lot of hard work and dedication. I’m grateful for the people around me that made it possible, but to try carry on that legacy and tradition meant a lot.”
Young was also asked if winning the Hesiman Trophy was an indication of what the future holds for him as an NFL quarterback.
The sophomore signal caller, however, downplayed any significance that the award might have as it relates to his future.
“It’s a great honor but it doesn’t prove anything for the future,” Young said. “I have a lot personally that I have to improve on. … I definitely have a long way to go.”
Young passed for 4,322 yards, 43 touchdowns and 4 interceptions this season.
He and his Alabama teammates are the No. 1 seed in the CFP playoffs and will face Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl on New Years Eve.
