Butch Jones met with the media Monday afternoon for his weekly press conference coming off the 24-10 win at home over Southern Miss.
Here’s a summary of what Butch Jones had to say during the press conference:
- We only had three penalties, we did not turn the ball over, forced two turnovers.
- Field position, we controlled the game. Trevor Daniel did a good job of flipping the field. Aaron Medley’s field goal was big.
- Impressed with Devante Brooks, Ryan Johnson and Trey Smith at LT for the first time
- Injury update: Jarrett Guarantano is probable, Shawn Shamburger probable. Marquez Callaway, Drew Richmond, and Brett Kendrick are all questionable. Marcus Tatum out for the Missouri game. Latrell Willaims and Evan Berry out for the season.
- How limited will Guarantano be? It’s all about which QB gives us the best ability to win. I was impressed with what I saw from him today. Will McBride was celebrating at home, they were having a birthday party for his brother and it turned into a Will McBride watch party.
- Thoughts on Will McBride? He has a unique personality. He does not get rattled, he has poise. Our players get excited when he plays. He can make all the throws, he can run with it. Now, it’s about teaching him when to get down, when to throw it away.
- Thoughts on Drew Lock? He’s going to play in the NFL for a long time.
- Will Jonathan Kongbo step back into the starting lineup? He’ll have to earn that. Nothing is given, he has to earn that playing time back.
- If Guarantano and McBride were unable to play for whatever reason (injury or otherwise) who would go in? Does Tennessee have an emergency QB? Our third QB right now is Seth Washington.
