Cam Newton broke an NFL record in Patriots loss to Seahawks

As evidenced by how well he’s playing this year, Cam Newton still has good years left in his pro football career.
Newton and the Patriots lost Sunday night to the red hot Seattle Seahawks, but Newton broke an NFL record in the process. The former quarterback finished 30-of-44 for 397 yards and 1 passing touchdown. He also added 11 carries for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns, giving him an NFL record.
Newton has now recorded more multi-rush touchdown games (8) than anyone in NFL history, including legendary dual-threat quarterbacks Steve Young and Steve McNair. Newton already has the NFL record of the most rushing touchdowns by an NFL quarterback in a single season with 14 in 2011. With 4 in 2 games this year, his own record could be in jeopardy.
Newton also extended his own NFL record Sunday night with his 40th game with a rushing and passing touchdown.
For all the talk about how Newton would or wouldn’t gel with head coach Bill Belichick, things look to be going quite well. The Patriots are 1-1, and Newton was voted a captain by his new teammates.
