The Carolina Panthers announced Thursday that Cam Newton has undergone an arthroscopic procedure on his throwing shoulder.

The Panthers announced the team physician Dr. Pat Connor performed the surgery, and he’ll begin the rehabilitation process immediately. The former Auburn QB missed the last two regular season games due to shoulder soreness.

Similarly, Newton had shoulder surgery during the 2017 offseason, but he was back before the season started. The Panthers went 11-5 that year.

The team offered no timetable for his return.

In 2018, Newton threw for 3,395 yards, 24 TDs and 13 INTs. His best pro season came in 2015 when he threw for 3,837 yards, 35 TDs and 10 INTs. Newton led the Panthers to the Super Bowl that season but ended up losing 24-10 to the Denver Broncos.
