Cam Ward is now the favorite to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy — at least according to one sportsbook.

Ward is +250 to win the award at BetMGM. He moved ahead of Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty on Saturday afternoon following his 4-touchdown effort in Miami’s 52-38 win over Louisville. Another book, FanDuel, has Ward and Jeanty as joint-favorites at +270 as of publication.

Miami needed every bit of Ward’s production on Saturday to beat Louisville. The Canes won 52-45 after Ward completed 21-of-32 passes for 319 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also rushed for 29 yards on the day. Samuel Brown and Xavier Restrepo both went over 100 receiving yards on the day as well.

Ward now has 24 touchdown passes and just 5 interceptions on the season. If Ward does win the Heisman Trophy, he would become the first Miami player to win the award since Gino Toretta in 1992. Vinny Testaverde is the only other Miami player who has won the Heisman.

Jeanty entered the week as the favorite after going for over 200 yards last week in Boise State’s latest win. However, a running back has not won the Heisman since Derrick Henry did so for Alabama in 2015.

Dillon Gabriel, who threw for multiple touchdowns in a win over Purdue on Friday night, is the other top contender for the award as of publication. He’s at +460 to win the Heisman, per FanDuel.

Ward and Miami are now 7-0 on the season. The Hurricanes will host Florida State next weekend.
