CBS analyst says Vanderbilt has a clear advantage over LSU in one key area

Vanderbilt has another big challenge ahead of it in Week 8 as it welcomes LSU to FirstBank Stadium on Saturday.
The Commodores’ last game was on Oct. 4 at Alabama, a 30-14 loss. Now, with an open week in the rear view mirror, Vandy will look to get back in the win column against the Tigers.
The “Inside College Football” crew on CBS Sports Network previewed the matchup on Tuesday, with Aaron Taylor joining Randy Cross and Rick Neuheisel in picking the Commodores to win. And there’s a big reason why.
“Vandy may have the best offensive line in the SEC,” Taylor said.
“Whoaaa!!” host Adam Zucker exclaimed.
“Long story short, LSU really came after South Carolina (quarterback) LaNorris Sellers last week. The difference is they got a free look, but now they gotta face an offense that has a complementary run game,” Taylor continued. “I think the combination of the two and (LSU) being on the road and not having the Death Valley advantage is enough for Vandy to get another statement win.”
Indeed, Diego Pavia will look to keep the Tigers’ defense busy. The Vandy QB has run for 352 yards and a pair of touchdowns in 2025. But lead rusher Sedrick Alexander (319 yards, 5 TDs) will see plenty of involvement as well.
Kickoff from Nashville is set for noon ET on ABC.
