CBS Sports ranks returning college football QBs in unique tiers heading into 2019 season

Instead of simply ranking quarterbacks, which is something nearly every outlet does this time of year, CBS Sports has tried something unique recently by placing college quarterbacks in tiers.
One thing to note, not every returning quarterback was ranked for some reason. Interestingly, Jarrett Guarantano, Terry Wilson, Matt Corral, Bo Nix and Joey Gatewood are nowhere to be found on this list — despite the fact an argument could be made for each of them being on this list in at least one tier.
Tier 1 listed as Heisman Trophy and All-American candidates. Tier 2 listed as possible all-conference players. Tier 3 established starters. Tier 4 primed for a potential breakout season. Tier 5 are listed as transfer QBs that could excel at their new school.

- Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama
- Jake Fromm, Georgia
Tier 2
- Kellen Mond, Texas A&M
Tier 3
- Jake Bentley, South Carolina
- Feleipe Franks, Florida
- Joe Burrow, LSU
Tier 4
- Keytaon Thompson, Mississippi State
Tier 5
- Kelly Bryant, Missouri
- Ben Hicks, Arkansas
