College football insider Brett McMurphy of On3 revealed on Saturday afternoon a slew of Big Ten opponents that soon-to-be-determined SEC teams will be facing in upcoming bowl games this postseason.

The SEC teams who will be facing these Big Ten squads will be known on Selection Sunday, but on the eve of the big day when the College Football Playoff bracket is revealed and bowl destinations are, too, McMurphy shed some light on what Big Ten teams will be going where.

We’ll start off with the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on New Year’s Eve afternoon, with McMurphy reporting on Saturday that Michigan will be heading south to central Florida to face an undetermined SEC team. Not too far away from Orlando, in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa earlier that afternoon, McMurphy reports that Iowa will be facing an SEC opponent.

The 3rd unknown SEC team that will play in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on Dec. 30 will be facing Illinois, according to McMurphy.

So, while SEC fans don’t know quite yet where their teams will be going bowling this postseason, they can finally try to guess what Big Ten opponents their programs might be matching up with when those complete bowl destinations are revealed on Sunday.

McMurphy also reported on Saturday that Nebraska will play in the Las Vegas Bowl and Penn State will head to the Pinstripe Bowl, so that’s 5 Big Ten teams who already have their bowl destinations reported the day before it becomes official on Selection Sunday.

Once that happens, then all of those SEC fans can start making their postseason plans.
