Chase Daniel was a star in Columbia during his college days, as he led Missouri to some of their best years in program history from 2005 to 2008. In 2007 the Tigers went 12-2, and they followed that up with a 10-win year the following season.

The Tigers hadn’t experienced success like that again until just recently, as the Tigers went 21-5 over the past two years entering this season. On Saturday, the Tigers traveled to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt in a battle of 6-1 teams, but it was the Commodores hanging on for a 17-10 victory.

After the game, Daniel sent a message to the fans who were upset about the loss.

“Tough loss, I get it on the road against a Top 10 team,” Daniel said in a message on X. “I just want to let every Mizzou fan to know, calm down. Let’s be real. We had a back-up kicker. We had a third string true freshman quarterback who had no idea he was going into the game. We were two inches short from sending it into overtime. Yes, there were too many mistakes. However, we have two losses. We lost to the No. 4 team in the country Alabama on a field goal. We have two close losses to top 10 teams within 10 points.”

As Daniel mentioned, the Tigers lost quarterback Beau Pribula to an injury in the second half, and freshman quarterback Matt Zollers had to come in. He nearly completed an incredible comeback, but a Hail Mary at the end of regulation was caught by Kevin Coleman Jr. just short of the goal line.

The Tigers get a much-needed bye next week before welcoming in another tough SEC team in Texas A&M in Week 11.
