Chris Jans took over the Mississippi State men’s basketball program after the school parted ways with Ben Howland this offseason.

Now, he’s working on putting his first coaching staff and his first roster together ahead of the 2022-23 season.

On Monday evening, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported that Jans was hiring James Miller — his associate head coach at New Mexico State — to his staff at Mississippi State:

Prior to his time on Jans’ staff at New Mexico State, Miller worked at North Texas, Arkansas State and Omaha.

Jans put together an overall record of 122-32, making the NCAA Tournament 3 times. He led the Aggies to 1 win in March Madness, coming this year over UConn.
