Clemson defeated Virginia Tech 24-14 on Saturday night in Blacksburg.

The Tigers trailed 7-0 at halftime, the Hokies didn’t score an offensive touchdown in this game until there was 1:43 left on the clock. . Clemson had one of its best defensive performances of the season against a Virginia Tech team that has been formidable offensively at times this season.

The win ensures Clemson still has an outside chance of reaching the ACC Championship Game. Miami’s loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday also helps in that regard. If the Tigers win out and Miami drops another game down the stretch, Clemson would be in position to play for the conference title.

Cade Klubnik had a big second half in the win. All 3 of his touchdown passes came after the break. He also rushed for 30 yards in the win.

Defensively, Clemson decided to shake things up by starting true freshman linebacker Sammy Brown. That adjustment worked extremely well as Virginia Tech managed just 40 total rushing yards on the day.

Clemson is now 7-2 on the season and has just 1 ACC game remaining this year: at Pitt on Nov. 16.
